We do still have 203-375-3338 as a telephone number, and 203-375-3339 as a fax number from

Ready Tool Co. We are an equal opportunity employer and would be interested in
looking at your qualifications. Please email
us your resume along with a cover letter and we will review and match it to any positions
we may have available.
I feel a rough spot on my live centers bearings?
Do not twist the bearing clockwise and counter-clockwise. Spin the bearing only in
one direction. The ball bearings have a space between them
and the twisting motion may be what you feel when twisting back and forth.
My live center feels hard to turn?
Ready Live Centers are Pre-loaded accurate high capacity bearings. These
bearings require some thrust load to be applied to them in order to operate
properly. Under normal operating conditions the center will give the advertised
proper concentricity.
My center runs hot?
Its perfectly ok to have a center run at a warm or hot temperature. If the
center is running extremely hot or even turning red, then there may be a problem.
The usual cause of a center running too hot is over-greasing. Many of our customers
repair their own centers and have a tendency to over-pack the bearings with grease. This
should be avoided. All our centers have a seal to keep the grease from exiting the
center and simultaneously keep coolant and debris out.
My center is very old and needs grease, what kind of lubricant should I
use?
Use a good grade of Extreme pressure, heat resistant ball bearing grease. We use CMD Lubricant.
What is the proper Center Hole size my workpiece needs to operate
properly and safely?
This is always a difficult question to answer with out knowing the weight,
material type, lubricant, thrust pressure, and radial loads from cutting, grinding or
other manufacturing processes. But as a general guide line the following is a good
standard. Use 1/2 of the total weight of the work piece for the center
hole diameter ie.. if the TOTAL weight of the work piece is 20,000 lbs, divide
it by 2, which equals 10,000 lbs. Use a 1.375 large (or larger) diameter center hole
| Weight of Work | Large diameter of center center hole |
| 1 to 10 Lb | .062 |
| 10 to 50 | .125 |
| 50 to 100 | ..156 |
| 100-250 | .187 |
| 250-500 | .375 |
| 500 to 1000 | .50 |
| 1000 to 2000 | 1.00 |
| 2000 to 10000 | 1.375 |
| 10 tons | 1.75 |
We are always adding to this page and expect it to grow quite large to help serve you better..
